| Nice work Bucks. Looks like that badger made you a nice dirt hole set. Just remove the badger, put some bait in that hole, and set er up.

| Holy crap Bucks, two coyotes in exposed sets in one day is quite an achievement! I hate to see sets plugged up when targeting cats with badgers and dogs. | |

| Another good thing to consider is that cats can't help but to check out a catch circle, or in those cases a catch tree! | |

| Some purdy sharp rocks for sure! I picked up a red today in a cat set and honestly was happy to just catch something again. I just got done putting it up and was pretty rubbed in the hips so might keep it and get it tanned for a buddy of mine. Nice to see some catch pics on this thread again. | |

| Nice job Bucks and nvsage, You guys are right, having something on the line is great motivation to keep at it. i have been a poor member lately and haven't been sharing my frustrations and successes from the line. I need to get some darn pics uploaded as well. on that note it has been a record season for me on cats, no laughing from the real cat trappers,( Bucks. Cameron2, Teach, Colorado cat, just to name a few). 5 cats total. 2 females and 3 toms. two toms being my largest to date with one at 45" and the other at 46" on otis's large cat stretcher. Probably the best cat stretcher ever designed i might add. we will see what the market does over the next couple weeks with all of the big sales coming and find out what they will bring. just a few checks left lets all cross our fingers. Clamp on! | |

| P.S. i heard nvsage is putting up fur for trappers at a very low rate. i never got the offer! just kidding. thanks for always trying to help fellow trappers and fur handlers. it really does make the trapping community a lot stonger when we all are helping each other. | |

| I have a sneaky suspicion the stretcher business is going to slow down now. Maybe the coyote board business will keep me afloat but this cat market sucks. I had a buddy sold coyotes yesterday for more than cats. | |

| Sweet deal huntandfish! Ok guys I got my computer back for the weekend anyway. So here it is. If anyone recalls back to the first page of this thread I showed up here for the first time. I was excited to get some traps out for my first time ever targeting Coyotes. Anyway if you follow the thread along part way down on page two I tell of three coyotes I picked up on that check but only posted a picture of one of them. The part I left out is really unbelievable and that is part of the reason I left it out until now. So the story goes like this. I am out checking my line fairly early in the morning and come to a location I had set previously with only one trap. (The last check there I noticed fresh sign from a passing coyote so I added two more sets and for the first time a shot of urine that I had just received from Andy Weiser. So now I have two sets on the left side of the road and one on the right.) I pull up to the original set on the left and it is empty. I drive up the road about 25 yards to the next set and bang a big angry dog tearing up the brush (the dog in the picture on page two). I am pretty happy at the sight and start taking pictures from my truck window. I get out and here some commotion from my third set in the heavy brush about 30 yards up the road and on the right. I walk up the road and can see through the brush I have another dog. I am getting closer now and here what sounds like a dog fight and now I can see two Coyotes. I turn around and start running while crouching low back to my truck to get a gun and hoping I wont scare off the other coyote in the process. I was thinking, I can't believe this there is another coyote attacking the one in my trap and how awesome will it be if I can kill the second one. So I get my pistol out and walk back to the dog fight in progress. Yep they are both still there fighting in the heavy brush and I'm trying to get the right dog in my sights. I am creeping up on them and they stop fighting but I still can't tell which one to shoot. At this point they are now only focused on me and I really want to kill the coyote not in my trap. They kinda bounce around the brush and now I can see two feet in my trap and realize they are both caught. I still cant believe this but of course I did snap some pics. If I would of known at the time and realized how rare or non existent this was, I would of spent more time getting better pictures. To make this story even more unreal pay attention to which feet are in the trap. " /> " /> | |

| You guys are welcome. I'm glad to share. The only thing that could of made that better is if someone was with me to experience it. I had a friend ask me " Are you sure someone isn't screwing with you?" I laughed and my reply to him " Are you kidding? Who could even think of something like that yet alone make it happen?" Ya, as far as I know it is a first. | |

| This is one of my best buds with a cat I caught this morning. John is 6'6" for comparison. Nice late season tom cat. Caught this cat on a JC Connor pivoting drag. I've always wondered why the shanks are so short on those drags. This cat hit a grass clump about the second jump and the grass clump plugged up the drag and the pivoting action, so he was basically dragging around a wad of grass and 8 feet of chain. The cat went about 400 yards before he tangled. Had it not been for the dog, I never would have found that cat. He left NO sign as he went through the bunch grass and then tangled under a couple of fallen down Joshua. The dog definitely earned his kibble today. | |

| That looks like a big ol boy there. Nice cat! I was finally able to connect today as I was pulling my line for the season. A nice big dry female. I haven't stretched her yet but will tomorrow morning after I get off work. But she has a beautiful belly. Fallon is just around the corner hope everyone does well there. MB450 had a good hold on her. | |

| Well, we visited the cat tagging in Ely since I have to work all weekend. Â Hopefully, the competition at Fallon will raise the prices some. We got there at noon and there had been 130 cats tagged.
We visited the buyers (there were 5, but we only had time to go to 3) and ended up selling to Kortum. Â He gave us a 184.50 average. 2 XXL, 3 XL, 3 L cats. Â He liked our smallest cat (32") the best. Â It wasn't busy and he spent a while showing my son and I a lot of tips about grading and the types of things he was looking for. Â Gave some good pointers that we can implement. Â He sure had a trailer full of fur--He will have to ship anything he buys from here on out.
Cats--184.50 Â Greys--14 average (Kortum said he can't get rid of them) Kits--8 average Badger--10 average
Overall, I was not expecting much after Nephi and Globe. Â Overall, we got 30% less for our cats and 50% less for our foxes than last year at Fallon. The Russian currency debacle, low oil and the Greek political farce is putting a lot of pressure on Nevada species.
One of the buyers (American) offered less than a 90 average on our cats, another (Steele) was about 11% below Kortum.
Good luck at Fallon. | |

| Well it wasn't by size. They measured them, wrote down the size and then went on to say that all they want are the strips to make belly coats. Our 32" was worth more than our 42". We did not get prices individually. We had a good pile of 4 and a bad pile of 4with a 150% difference between them--1025 & 425.
I will post pics tonight | |
