| Yep you must protect your spots and your gear. you can get a good gametrail camera for about 50$. Set it up on a spot where there is only one way in and out. Just see what is going on. Sounds crazy but wardens will help you if you need it?? | |

| Had to set a cam up already this year and haven't had anyone mess with it since but if they do come back I will catch them... Just as bucks said I have my cam set up on a trail where there is only 1 way in and out! | |

| I purposfully trap 20 miles from the closest town, and still had someone take one of my sets...It is probably a good thing I din't catch them..I need my job to support my trapping habit. | |

| Yep. Everyone is correct. I lost some steel and fur last year and didnt have a trail cam at the time. Now im prepared and hope i don't happen again. Idk why people do this but then again some people cant do things for them selves and take others belongings. Hope the thieves get caught. Either in a trap, haha or on camera. | |

| Make sure you report it at NDOW, They do get traps back sometimes and protects you if they are now being used with your number on it. eg, illegally set near a road. | |

| My trap will be returned today. It ended up being the rancher who ranches across the highway from the public land I trap on. That would explain them being in the area. His wife is one of the tellers at the local bank and saw my name on the deposit slip. She proceeded to tell me the story of their dog getting caught in the trap and neither of them knowing how to get it out...so her husband ripped it out of the ground.
Long story short, the dog ended up with a sore paw, and I pick up my trap today sometime. Happy Ending | |

| I never really thought about it, but that's another good reason for 1 traps sets. Maybe you are using 1 trap sets, I do, but more because of lions. | |

| When I set up a game camera for people I always cover the flash with duct tape. the pic. might not be as good but if they spot the flash, your camera is gone too. I do this a lot on my duck leases. | |

| many years ago I partnered up with an old timer and we ran a long line together. His sets were close to the road because he wasn`t very spry mine were back in a ways. The old gentleman was plagued by trap thieves. I did some investigating, actually saw the thief steal a coyote and trap. poor guy! Somehow his truck jumped out of gear and rolled down the hill. I estimate it was doing about 50 when it left the road, pretty dramatic. I suspect a faulty transmision | |
