Come on guys, this type of comments reminds me of Lynx Lair or Trapperman comments (which is the reason I don't frequent those site very often). The reason I like this site so much is that kind of converstations are few (if any) and everybody here is pleasant to chat with. I know I sometime ask too much of others, but I've always tried to live by that "Golden Rule" thing and I realize this is of course the real world. But if we hold ourselves accountable to good behavior, life will much more happy. Ok, I'm now stepping down off my soapbox and preparing for the barage of comments. Please be kind if you would, as it is very humiliating and not very manly when I cry. Sad

Haven't heard anything on avgs. yet but my buddy said that a buyer came up and offered him $850 for one of his nice toms before the sale...he said no I want to sale through the NV assocaition. The buyer then found him again later today and ask what lot # that cat was in... sounds like its going to be good!

Well ridge, my response is a tongue in cheek thing. Smile
If you want a kinder gentler trapper then you better get rid of the ALL the ego's.
I don't know about bnb's response, but it always seems like everyone huffs and puffs up their local sales then when it starts after the first day it's hush hush time.
Just curious as I don't have a horse in the Fallon sale and probably never will again. tongue

Usually Fallon's first day is all the cats that are shipped in and the junk stuff. The best of the best is usually held for Sunday.
Saturday is usually the out of state stuff with that seller/ trapper attending. With some NV selling as they couldn't get in on Sunday.
You watch Friday's avg. Sat's avg and then Sunday is all the NV boys cats and then watch that days avg. It'll go through the ceiling.
I'm just a curious person and always reading and learning.

WOW! I'm surprised Jim let the coyotes and fox on.
Good prices on the greys and kits.
Good average on the cats too.

You know it just stands to reason that the last day of the sale will be the higher prices. Buyers have committed to fur processors a certain type and amount of cat. On the last day of the sale, they are doing all they can to obtain the agreed upon amout of fur they need. They will most times pay a little more to fill these orders. And also, the Nevaday Trappers are the hosts of this event and with all the work involved in putting this sale on and putting up with us out-of-staters, I think its only fair that they should get a little more. One of the newer guys that has joined this forum is a young guy I taught to trap and he really likes the way we don't pick and prod others on this site. He says he has never seen this great cooperation between trappers before. I don't want to discourage these young people from learning our hobb/trade. We need to pass the torch and good cooperation between us will set the standard for them.

You think it's fair!?
So you think it's fair for someone to bring their out of state cats to the sale (since this is the best cat sale of the west) thinking they are going to get a fair honest bid to be told their cats are not up to snuff to be bought at lower priced so the nevada guys can get a higher average and the buyers use the out of state cats to average down their cost.
Something totally wrong with that kind of thinking.
Have a good life.
I'm done with the BS.

Years ago there wasn't a Fallon Sale. They have worked on getting it to be one of the top sales in the country. They did the work, put in the time, jumped through the hoops, etc. If other states want to get what Nevada has, they need to do the same thing. Hard, honest work is rewarded (at least that is what it used to be), so have your state assoc. take one of their sales and bill it as the state cat sale. It will bring in the buyers who are looking to buy cats and then you too will start getting the top prices like they do in Fallon. I live in Idaho, and don't get near the prices that they pull in at the Fallon sale. Rather than cry foul, I'm starting to get involved with the local assoc, and see if we can do the same thing here. Free Enterprise is a wonderful thing if we all put it to good use. I don't expect a hand out from anyone, but appreciate a helping hand once in a while.

Depending on size maybe 350. If they are heavy fur with sides that are light and blend in well maybe more.

There was lots of great looking fur this morning. to me it seemed the majority of them were out of state like cali. Saw an awesome heavy montana cat too. hope all goes well for everyone there.
