| I have heard that Ned isn't buying this year and I am still hearing that the outfit from Nb isn't coming to Ks this year. From what I have been hearing, there is only one or two buyers in Ks this year that will be buying fur. I'm still trapping, it is something I enjoy, but if it isn't a really good coon or skunk, it won't be skinned and put up. Most of the cats I catch will be released and only a few of the older toms will be kept for urine. I have a couple of large ranches that are complaining about coyotes and I will smack them and throw them away in a canyon. I'm not going to hit it as hard as last year. I do put up all of my own fur and ship it, I don't sell very much to the local fur buyers. | |

| Have any of you ever sold to Calp? If so how is he to deal with? I have a farmer that lives by the river and has a big coon problem and wants me to clean them out a little. I want to hit them hard for a week or so and get out of there. Just want to sell as soon as possible and be done with them. Wasen't planning on messing with coons this year. Thanks. | |

| from the ksn web site RegTextSizeControl('ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_CommonPage_CommonBody_CommonContent_CommonLeftColumn_Main_V___TextSize',true);
WICHITA, Kansas – For the first time, wildlife experts have confirmed that a living mountain lion has been spotted in Kansas.
A deer hunter saw the animal near Wakeeney in Trego County. The hunter was sitting in a tree stand and took the pictures.
The wild best is confirmed in Kansas with those pictures and authenticated by Kansas Wildlife & Parks. "Yes," says Charlie Cope with Wildlife & Parks. "Appears to be the real thing. We've been saying all along there's possibilities. We just haven't had real good proof." There have been rumors of mountain lions in Kansas for years. The rumors have all been proved to be false... ranging from a pack of pumas roaming the range to Wildlife & Parks even releasing them. "We do hear rumors that Wildlife and Parks have released mountain lions in Kansas," explains Cope, "and (that) we've released them to control the deer population. I don't even know where we would go to buy mountain lions for one thing. It's not like there's a Mountain-Lions-R-Us that you could go to and get some." But with the mountain lion confirmed sightings in Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma it's no stretch the big cat could be here in the Sunflower state. After all, parks officers say, there's plenty of food for the big beast. Cope says they will eat, "...deer, skunks, other mammals. They will eat some birds. Whatever they can come up with." And with a confirmed sighting in Kansas, parks officers say on the off chance you see one you are not supposed to panic. "You wanna keep your kids close to you. If you see a mountain lion you don't wanna run. That's the worst thing you can do."
