Just saying hello. I'm Tom from SW Montana. Been trapping 3 years now and been going after cats since day #1. Hopeing to get my first cat this year, and if not tighten up that learning curve some more.

What sets/lures are you running? What kind of traps?

My first season I ran coni-box sets useing fish/sardines for bait and PRRC for lure. I could only check my sets twice a week then that's why I chose coni's. Had some cats show interest, and one stick its head in the box, when I checked my trigger was rusted to the frame, still don't know how it didn't go off.

Last season I came across a set of tracks late in the season. Used some T-bones and walk throughs, and 1 cubby. Had some rabbit for bait in my cubby and just used some PRCC and strait gland lure on the others w/ some hide flagging. I learned I was trying to hard to bring cats to where I thought they should be rather than setting on sign.

I bought some Badlands Bob and urine from John Graham this season. Probably will stick with T-bones and walk throughs depending on location, maybe some post sets. I haven't come across any sign yet this year but we just got our first snow recently. I'm hopeing to get a head start before season opens, and start looking this year for next season. Hopefully this thinking will get me some kitties.
