The majority of our membership actually favored a shorter season than that proposed by Fish & Game. Many members have been calling for a shorter season for several years.
The data, especially female-to-juvenile ratios, supported the shortened season. The biologists all stated this is a production issue, not a harvest issue. With the good spring we had, and if the fur prices are down as predicted, it should give the cats a jump start in the production department. If so, we'll have our regular season back shortly, as soon as the data supports it.
