| I built three pens for bob cat urine collection. I have 2 cats right now. If there is anyone out there with any experience with wild bob cats, I sure would appreciate any advise. I am going to run out of red meat for them pretty soon. Doing trapping season I had lots. They don't seem to like dried cat food. The urine collecting is working great. e-m states2@verizon.net | |

| Contact your local law enforcement agency about the road kill permits. Have the agency give your contact information to the dispatch center so they can call you when ever there is an accident involving a deer or what ever else can be used as food. | |

| I was always told that if you are collecting urine that you need to feed them meat to get good urine. I have done it through the winter months but think it could get pretty smelly in the warm weather if you don't keep everything clean. It take some work to collect good urine. | |

| thanks a bunch guys for all your input. it sure does take a lot of work to collect good urine. I have already collected more than I can use, as well as for my trapper friend. the pens ended up costing a lot more than I originally had planned . now I am going to try and sell some to recover some of my cost. I think that a lot of the bobcat urine on the market around here is regular house cat urine. that meat thing has to be important also. my Vietnamese customers won't buy my coyotes for eating if I feed them dog food . our coyotes here are not worth any thing for fur. it is going to take a few days for me to get a reading from the local wardens, but I don't look for that to work out. | I called my warden friend, last week end. He didn't return my call, or as of yet. the week end was bad timing. I gave them a pack of hog dogs last night. they were still good, just a little old. that female did not touch hers. the male eats alot better, his was gone this A.M. I didn't feed Jerri all day, the dogs are still there, damn that female. | |

| I just got a new beaver job yesterday. I bet there are 12 + beaver in this little 1 ac. lake/dam. the dam is totally ruin . their all through it. holes every where. so that will feed them for awhile. they seem to like beaver the best of any thing that I have fed them. deer is high on their list also. | |

| In most areas you can keep a bobcat, city limits are mostly a no - no . it is a lot easier to keep a female, but this is only two months experience talking. may-be 3 mos., but not alot. the male is easier to feed. this is my second male. they don't pee in the pen. this new beaver job I got has a cat toilet on the dam . I can get another cat there any time I want. If you want one just let let me know. I only use soft catch traps for cats. | |

| [i]Hey STates,I am new but have had bobcats in pens,if your feeding meat ,feed it about 1 1/2 weeks rthewn feed a cereal type diet or cat food because the kidneys will inflame from high urine toxin and they will die.Yours truly,Larry | |

| Hey dawatson, sorry I missed your post. that was doing my trapping shut down time, pretty busy. I have learned a bunch about cats in the last 16 months. I was switching them out every month or two or three. because they get harder to handle after they learn how far they can reach out of the pen to get ya. when a new cat gets real hungry it seems almost thankfull when you feed it. after 3 or 4 months of captivity a cat will get real mad then it gets too hungry. BUT the best thing that I have learned is that after 6 to 10 months they will almost eat table scraps . the first couple months are tough. nothing but red meat and fresh fish, and not too heavy on the fish. on the 4th or 5th day of fish they will leave it lay and rot. also the females seem to except captivity a little better. so now I keep females only and the same ones, and they are alot easier to find food for. | |
