| I have shared this a couple of other places and thought that you might like to have it here. This week I finally made a trap that I have been thinking about since last February. The double door trap will allow the trapper to set the trigger on one end of the trap, then go to the other end and set that trigger. It is very user friendly, unless you are a bobcat.......

| That is a pretty good idea, never thought about doing that on a cage trap, excellent for a walkthru though | |

| There are places that a walk through set will out preform any other type of set. No bait, no lure, you don't have to depend on the cat being hungry or curious to catch the cat. Also if it isn't a tom you can quickly release it unharmed. | |

| Do you ever have many problems with cats in the cages damaging their fur? | |

| No, have never had a problem with any damage to their fur in cages. Each winter I keep cats during our open season to collect bobcat urine and from the time I put the cats into the urine cages, until they check out, their fur gets better and better. If the trap is large enough, the cats really don't fight it. They will lay around waiting for something to happen. If there is bait in the trap, they will normally eat the bait. The cats don't get too upset until someone shows up at the set. | |

| Nice work Bill. Looks like 36 inch. Do you think that will be OK? Figured if I ever made a walk through I would use 48 " Just geussing as I have never used a double door. As far as " fur" damage with my caging I get cats with rubbed spots on there faces and bruising under the skin, on their backs and shoulders from fighting the cages but nothing that effects sale to the fur market. | |

| I have always thought that one day I would like to try cages. Correct me if I am wrong, but are you using the cages in areas that you are required to? or is it just for the live market? Or do you like it better? I assume you also run footholds? | |

| In Colorado only live trap are legal. Around here, we have a lot of pheasant and quail hunting and the hunters all have dogs that they hunt with, so a live trap doesn't bother the hunters as much as a foot hold does. The reason I went to soft catches a few years ago, was also because of bird hunter. Also when trapping bobcats that are hunting farm cats, I can release the farm cats or dogs with doing any harm to them. Farmers don't worry about their children or pets being harmed by live trap. There is less stress to animals that I want to keep to collect urine from and as bad as the mange is around here, they don't catch coyotes. Also live traps are a lot more of a challenge when trapping cats. Probably the biggest reason is, one of these days we will all be using them or not trapping at all. I would rather be proactive than reactive, when that day comes it won't be that big of a deal to me..............Phil | |

| I used to hate country music, but then the first year that the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo was here, Montgomery Gentry was one of the headlining entertainers, so I went to the concert and actually liked it. | |
