| Not everyone can bring home the $$ like O'gorman or (tongue in cheek LOL) huntinglonewolf so we find ways to save money or we just are born tinkerers. I like to use aluminum for my sifters and when at a good will store or any sale, flea market I buy aluminum pans for pennies and turn them into usable, non rusting, dirt sifters. I especially like old bundt pans. I like the bundt pans because they are deep and have the insert to cut off. here is a whole pan I take and draw a line about one inch around the insert and with my dremel cutoff wheel I cut out the ring. here is a ring before and after trimming I then cut a piece of 1/4 inch galvanized harware cloth and set that into the pan and place the ring on top. I drill 1/8 inch holes around the bottom with my dremel and a bit and using aluminum pop rivets attatch the ring squeezing the hardware cloth between the pan and cut off ring. I put the rivets up into the sifter as to have a smooth bottom surface that nothing catches on. If the sifter ever wears out I can drill out the rivets and add a new screen. I cut a sqare or rectangle out of the square or rectangular pans leaving a 3/4 inch lip and then cut the portion I cut out into 3/4 inch strips to sandwich the screen between...I do not believe any of my lifetime sifters cost a dollar and last without rusting and they are light. Hope this idea helps some... ..........Mac~ | |

| Mine is the same heavy mesh they use in the heavy duty sifters. It's 1/4" on the inside. |

| Looks good, I am too lazy to make anything myself, but I am going to have to give it a whirl. At least this way you can perfect it to exactly how you want it. | |
