We do have to be picky about what we keep. If I can find the photos of 1 of the cats I released I will put them up its kind of funny. What really stinks is look at some of the states bordering us and their limits. Nevada and Wyoming no limits, Idaho is the same I believe. Out here we used to have a 10 cat limit now its 4. Its all based on 4 criteria that a "bobcat" team set up. If too many of them are out of wack we can lose tags and season length. Word of advice if your state tries to implement a management plan fight it tooth and nail.

No limits here only to non-residents who's home state has a limit. So Utah is a 3 or 4 limit this year? You can only come here and trap that many. Not hearing good prices coming up this season on cats. Going to make some grown men cry and cry hard. Don't quit your day job.

Limits don't work. Last year a guy in Oklahoma was bragging on another site that he had his 20 cat limit and he was going to start working on his wife's limit. On the same site a guy from Oregon said that his trap line was a family line and that is why he took so many cats that year. Limits like that are impossible for law enforcement to enforce. There are also guys that live on state lines and buy licenses from both states and use the state that is unlimited to laundry their excess cats. The only thing that will limit the catch on cats, is their lack of value.........

your last sentence may be a major factor this year in how much trapping is going on, i am still running my line, just because i enjoy it and my son loves going along too, plus it get us out in the outdoors and teachs him game management and respect for animals and if hes with me, i dont have to wonder what hes doing[not a problem anyway], any way, prices should be interesting, heard some buyers are not even going to consider blue coons or odd colored coons, i think the only buyer i heard that will buy so far is Pestka out of Nebraska, maybe i am wrong though

I have been told that Pestka isn't coming down to buy this year. The only fur buyer that I have heard of that is buying this year, in the western side of the state, is Calp in Barton County and he isn't giving anything for fur.

this is what i read on t-man posted by Marty B, i have also e-mailed them to see for sure if they are coming around on their kansas routes, will let you know what i find out, called Greg Pestka tonight, they are not coming to kansas at all, they will be along the kansas/ nebraska border, check with them on there new routes, they also have a new website, he said they would be glad to buy fur if they are met at the border towns I see the information superhighway has been sidetracked down the off ramp to crazy town. Just like the previous 30years, Petska Fur (308-750-0700), will be running most of the regular routes this season. We're looking at $3 to $6 dollar avgs on quality coons. (2X or better with good colors) As with everyone else we'll adjust accordingly depending on which way the market goes. We'll also be looking for Quality Coyotes, Heavy Western Cats with bright fluffy bellies, and Deer Hides. As always, just like the title of the of thread indicates, Contact the buyers in your area and get the real info. Here's to the guys that Live it, and Love it. Lets all cross our fingers and collectively pull for some kind of a positive turn in the markets. Don't forget - Not all of our returns can be measured with debits, and credits.

Bgh, not much of an option for me either as trapping is how I make a living in the winter. But to put out more money than bring in isn't an option either. Pick and choose and keep the overhead down to the bare bones. But putting more fur on a glutted market(if you can find a buyer) isn't smart. Local buyer said he is only paying $150 for cats that's our good cats. Costs over $200 here to produce. Going in the hole before I leave the house. Good luck guys out the door for a while.

I haven't heard anything about that sale. Normally the buyers that purchase the furs at that sale are the same fur buyers that buy around the state. If you do the math, I would think with possibally only one buyer, the prices won't be very good...........

bill1306, I've been around and heard them guys that will catch there limits and work off there wifes limits. I knew a guy in Texas that would shoot 8 or more deer every year using his deer tags and then shooting deer off his wife. I ragged on his so much he quit telling me how many deer he shoot every year. I live in Oklahoma and we can only set out 20 traps unless we pay for an extra permitt, but Non-Residents can come here to trap and set out unlimited traps. Now go figure that one out. LOL
