This years summer Rondy will be August 1-3 near Ely NV. Cameron2 is working on flyers for the event. You know the guy that Greg DUHHH said was such a bad guy and no help to the trappers assoc!! I am sure it will be a great time with lots of info and training demos. So get the word out and put it on your calender for this coming summer. More info to follow.

Thanks.

Bucks, does much take place on the first day? I have a hog show to go to in Elko that day, but should be there the rest of the time.

Just read on the southern Wild Life Coalition facebook page that Andy Weiser will be there to give a demo.... this is going to be a good one by the sounds of it. Glad to see we are gettting the word out a lot earlier this year then last. Tracy is all over it man.

Bucks, it's a one day livestock show. Fair weekend is at the tail end of August. Missed the rondy in Spring Creek last summer and want to make this one. Are you going to the John Day, Oregon for the regional get together? I need to learn how to make a dirt hole for coyote and fox, I can't catch dogs in October and November for the life of me. I've caught two doubles in exposed trail sets in the last week when coyotes are rubbed to their skin. Month and a half too late!!!

I will get with Tracy and try and get some kind of agenda on what is happening on each day. Hang in there with me on this. I am the middle man on this one.

Hello,

My name is Joe Bennett and I, with the help of Tracy and several others are putting on the rendezvous this summer.  It will be at the Ward Mountain Campground just west of Ely.  Most everything will take place on Saturday August 2.  We also have Mercer Lawing giving a cage trapping demo and several others have been contacted.  We will have a potluck dinner Saturday night and a raffle.  We would like to pre sell raffle tickets and will have at least one gun, a shoulder mount for a deer or antelope and a number of other prizes.  We have several events planned for the kids as well.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.  More information will be posted as it becomes available. Thanks, Joe

Sounds awesome Joe. Can't wait to meet Mercer, I'll have to have him bring some cages up to save on shipping! Ward Mountain is a cool area, Bucks that was your stomping ground for a while wasn't it?

Teach that is where I was born and that is about it. Been back many times but for fishing or camping not much else. Really hope I can make it. I talked to Joe and I am donating some shirts for the Rondy. Make sure you all get some so they can make some of that money back. Sounds like its going to be a big one!!

We should just apply for area 11,12 or 10 tags then we could kill 2 birds with one stone .. as it were.
Sounds like an awesome time . I hope to work it into Football practice and the archery hunt. Thank you for the heads up Matt and thank you Tracy for all you do .

Mule skinner I haven't really been apart of the rondy's as of yet but help in the background where I Can. Don't want to be put in the same category as the other 2 and many others that help keep what we love so much around. It is important to stay informed and help where you can. My great Uncle who was the senator of NV told me if its important to you then fight for it!! I find that more true today then back in the 70's. So lets make this Rondy a great one and get everyone fired up and help support anything we can to fight the anti's and keep this great sport around.

Hello all,

Here are the directions for the roundy:

From Ely, Nevada, take Highway 6 south towards Tonopah, 10 miles to the Forest Service sign for Ward Mountain Recreation Area and Campground, turn left and you are there.

And for Otis, several people are coming just to buy stretchers.  I'm going to get with you as I want some reserved. All help will be appreciated, PM me and I'll keep in touch with you.

We have almost all of the campground reserved. If we get too many folks, which I'm hoping for, it's National Forest all around the campground with extra overflow parking.

It is first come first serve but we can put a couple of tents on each spot. I think up to ten people for each site and a couple of vehicles. There is a overflow parking lot a few hundred yards away too.

Ward Mountain campground information:

This campground offers several single-family campsites, double-family campsites and three large group sites that can accommodate up to 100 or more people. Multiple access points for trails are found throughout the campground with the main trailhead located at the eastern most side.
All campsites are equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings and grills. Vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided, but there is no electricity. A campground host is on-site.

Do you guys think we need more then 12 campsites? The online Federal reservation system would only let me reserve four campsites per person. I've used me, Cameron and my son-in-law. Any volunteers, I'll need your name, address and phone number. I will pay for them if there are some volunteers and you guys think we need more.

Also I have 6 tricked out #3 Victors double longs to donate for auction... Where do I send them?

I have campsites- 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18 and group area A. If you could reserve four more I will get you reimbursed. I thinks it's $26 per space for Friday and Saturday nights.

As for the donated traps, you can bring them with you and thank you. This is really shaping up to be an awesome event, I have three taxidermists donating a free deer or antelope shoulder mount (that's probably $1,800+++) and a bunch of other raffle prizes.  The 11 year old girl in Utah that sells baits (Western Cats) is coming along with Montgomery fur, Teton trap Company, Mercer Lawing (cage traps) Otis Latham (stretchers), Matt (shirts/sweat shirts) I bought a sweat shirt in Fallon and it's awesome but my wife wants one now, lol.  I will also have NVTA shirts and hats too.  I'm working on other vendors and if you guys have connections or ideas please let me know. All we need now is people to show up and from the sounds of it, that will happen.  I will be sending out raffle tickets to sell the first part of the week, so PM your name address and phone number and how many tickets ($5 each or 6 for $20) you want and I'll get them to you to pre-sell and thanks for all the support.

There is so much that Elkhunter2002 didn't even mention Montana coyote specialist and lure maker Andy Weiser (Weiser Western Lures) . . . Jack Sangl (aka "the disease guy") from Wildlife Services will do a presentation that may very well save your life. . . . Two of the top trappers in the western United States, Scott Little and Billy Taylor, will do one on one personal instruction with all youth trappers who bring their own tools and gear . . . Jeeeeeezzzz I'm getting so excited I think I'll go make a blueberry cobbler!!
