Well, now I know that I have to wear the sweatshirt I bought from you to catch cats. Nice kitty. Our season doesn't open for just over 5 weeks from now (Dec. 14th). With our weather being warm, just as well as the cats are not quite prime yet. We need colder weather.

From you recent picture, I see that you have lost quite a bit of weight. Congrats on that also.

Do you catch many grey fox during the year?

Sweatshirt is a must! yeah about 53 lbs so far. yeah a few maybe 10 a year.

Spring Creek and Mountain City, depends on the day. I would only wear a sweatshirt if it had a zipper in front. I like the track in the trap, you can actually tell it's a bobcat, that's unusual.

Pretty cat and I do like that sweatshirt also. Another 8 days here and the coons can start kissing their butts good bye. It is still too early for our cats to have much hair on them. The hides are probably prime, but they will be a little bald until after the first of the year. I’ll try and catch as many coons as I can before they den up and I will also be taking a few problem coyotes and then after the first of the year I’ll start running cat/coyote lines.

Roger that Bill. It has been warm here too for this time of year. The cat had pretty good fur though and I was supprised. Good to hear that everybody is getting going. Good luck to all and may your traps be full of quality fur!!!

Bucks, did you get any snow in your country for the storms passing through the area? I'm at work in Trenton, ND, and we got between 14" and 16" depending on who and where you are taking the measurement.

We got a little skif in the valley but the moutains look white?? I will know more tomorrow and let you all know. Hopefully some more cat pics!!!

The wife told me that at home around Twin Falls, the mountains are white and they got a skiff there in the valley. When I get home, I'm doing the final scouting for cats and will do some coyote calling also. Want to thin out the coyotes in a couple of areas where there are a few cats lurking.
When I lived and worked up north in Alaska, I got some bibs and a parka that are called "Arctic Wear" clothing. These are a little bulky, but you can stay warm down to -80 degrees. They are great for 4-wheeling and or riding a snow machine, so I should be pretty comfortable scouting. Great job Bucks, look forward to more pictures.

I wore mine to the last fursale of the year at Mt. Home and got a lot of positive comments on it. Told everyone where I got it and about Bobcats R Us. Hope it put some action your way Bucks.

Well we did get some snow in the moutains. Just enough to cover most of my sets! Had the flu and still had to check. Good times there for sure!!! Caught 3 greys. Didn't hook up with any cats that day. Next check weather was better and most of the snow was gone. Got some more sets out and cleaned up the others. I also hooked up with a nice tom cat!! He was heavy and had been eating well. Haven't got him streched yet but will let you know when I do.[img][/img]

Nice to see that you tie off hard and fast instead of chasing the drags! Now you have a super spot with lots of cat smells. There is a Female somewhere by where you caught the young one.

Picked up one on Saturday, 6 traps out, caught a cat in 48 hours.

Not bad at all for Utah and our populations.

It is too bad that Utah doesn't set a quota for different areas. I found quite a bit of bobcat sign in the northwest corner of the state this fall. I could not see where there was low population of cats in that area. I figured a person could connect on a dozen cats in 8 to 10 days pretty easy.

I think the quota actually kills more cats then anything. Guys are catching a lot of cats and releasing the smaller cats in turn eventually killing a good portion that are let go, becasue they are holding out for that big tom. Just from talking to the some guys in Utah sounds like a lot of cats are let go.

I completely agree with that assumption.

I know guys that have released upwards of 10 cats before getting one good one.

Its like Kokanee fishing with those familiar with it, if you catch small ones, waiting for a big one, the small ones will have died simply by being exposed to the air, or in the bobcats case getting expose to a trap set.
