I know its not trapping but I am trying to get a game plan together on going to Idaho to hunt wolves. I am thinking of going to the Lowman area. Is anyone on here familiar with a few of their habits and have any tips on trying to call them up? thanks

They follow the Elk and the Elk migrate down to lower elevations in the winter. You might have to go below Lowman closer to Garden Valley to find Wolves and Elk late in the winter.

The areas around McCall, Fairfield and Sun Valley have higher populations of Wolves then Lowman.

Challis and Salmon have a good population too. I've found that if you can immitate a domestic dog barking or a pup crying, the seem to work pretty well. When I was in Alaska, I was told that a pup in distress was the best to use to call in a wolf. I have to admit, I've never called in a wolf yet, but my life isn't over yet.

Lowman isn't in the allowed wolf trapping area.
The closest area is out side of Cascade area.
Check the regs hard before you come.
