Put an ad in the local want ads for some traps and got a call. I bought some good traps..and some wire stretchers that I am going to sale or trade. He said they were coyote stretchs. But I don't know anything about wire stretchers. Anyways just thought I would share some pictures.

After a couple hours of cutting old wire and cable I ended up with.....
21 OS #3 Victors.

Some #3 and #4 Newhouses and a Diamond.

And the 19 Wire stretchers. Plus a pile of other regular jaw #3 victor longs and a couple Montgomery and Northwood coils... all and all a damn good day Smile

As far as the wire coyote strectchers go, I would not use them on your coyotes. Your Nevada dogs will stretch so much better on a wooden stretcher than these. Looks like you are getting set for a good season next year.

I used to run about 120 #3 double long spring traps on a coyote line. In places where weight wasn't an issue, I would use a railroad plate with a 3.5 inch bolt up through one hole in the plate and another one the other direction in another hole. I would run at a minimum of 10 feet of chain with this. It makes a great drag, and if you can plant them before the ground freezes up, they act as a deadman once frozen in or if you bury them deep enough. If by chance they are pulled up, then the drag part takes over and they still work. For coyote trapping early in the season, this might be a good alternative for a spot where you would want to put a cat set later on. Just bury it down around 18" deep, and make sure you put a swivel at the ground level and another one somewhere inline between the trap and the swivel that is at ground level. I realize that with earth anchors now, you can stake down a trap quickly. This is just an option other than the earth anchor. And for those like myself who live near railroad tracks, a walk along the tracks will produce an occasional railroad plate off the side that was discarded, its easy to put it to use. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area, but every now and then I get a rambling thought, and this is it.

I will be giving all of the #3s a vinegar bath and then putting the PIT pans system with an enlarged pan on all of them. If I can get better at welding I will be laminating all of them as well. Like bucksNbows said a little TLC and hopefully they will be some cat catching machines for me next year. All springs are really strong so I was really happy with the buy of everything.
